What's On

Ullapool is a lively and happening place despite its small size. It’s easy to walk from one end of the village to the other and you’ll find plenty going on throughout the year.

Here at the Ferry Boat and the Argyll Hotel we are pleased to host regular live music throughout the year. On Wednesdays there’s our regular Open Mic Night in the Ferry Boat where anyone is welcome to take the stage for a song or a poem. We have a guitar that can be borrowed too. If performing is not your thing then just sit back and enjoy the music!

We also have a selection of live music at selected weekends over the summer, mostly in the Argyll next door. Please see the Gig Guide below for details of our 2019 gigs. All gigs are free to attend and feature a talented host of local, national and sometimes international artists of folk, Scottish, Americana and a great mix of singer-songwriters.

We also play host to musicians during the fabulous Adult Feis traditional music weekend in early May and the famous Loopallu music festival in mid-September as well as being a handy nearby pub for The Ullapool Guitar Festival in October.

Also in the Argyll Hotel next door you’ll find a folk session every Monday night, a fun Quiz every Tuesday from 8.30pm, Redtooth Texas Hold ‘Em Poker session every Wednesday, and live acoustic singer-songwriters and small groups most Fridays and Saturdays between March and mid-October too.

Music aside, Ullapool hosts a wide range of other events such as the Book Festival in May, visits from impressive tall ships and cruise liners, sailing, canoeing and other watersports and well as an excellent boat trip/nature cruises round the Summer Isles including a visit to the uninhabited summer isle, Tanera Mòr.
