I see some less than happy reviews, but try finding a better place for this relatively bargain price in town. WiFi was the only disappointment. Great view, great restaurant, great location, and if you have traveled in remote parts on this earth, this is a luxury. The staff are fried, as are most others in tourists areas this time of year. Give them a break. I'm just happy that this easy place to stay is still an option, especially considering the state of our world the past few years.

Despite needing a lick of paint and a new stair carpet this place retains its charm and is super convenient for the ferry to Lewis. The food in the evening is excellent and the staff all very friendly and helpful.

When we arrived at FBI we were a bit taken aback at the laid back feel it had 'go up the stairs ..' Our room had a view of Loch Broom and had everything we needed in it. Going down to the bar it was apparent that space and tables were at a premium with the landlord turning many would be drinkers and diners away so I would recommend booking a table for dinner if you want to eat thereWe DID book a table for dinner - the menu is small but the good excellent (I'm a great believer in small menus). We discovered a secret back exit from the hotel lead to its duster hotel - that one might have more drinking tables!!!All in all - a great location for a pre ferry stopoverThe knly downside was the furnishings in the room - defo needed sone re-wallpapering!!

As positions go it is superbly positioned alongside the harbour, our room having a sea view. The room was generous in size and the electric heater allowed us to choose our preferred temperature. Decoration was satisfactory though peeling paper from an old leak should really have been dealt with. A distant rumble from an extractor fan was reminiscent of holidays abroad sleeping with the air conditioning on. Staff were very friendly and helpful and the breakfasts and evening meals were well cooked and presented. I would certainly stay there again.

We booked the FBI purely for its convenient location to the CalMac ferry terminal, nearby, with 2hrs free parking on the doorstep, then free overnight from 5pm.We were pleadantly surprised to find a clean, smart, quirky establishment, serving excellent, reasonably priced food, and a good selection of beers and wines. From the off the staff were heplful, cheerful, and informative, guving excellent service.Rooms are clean, well equipped, and xllnt value.Only gripe would be the irritatingly noisy fire-door that banged and crashed throughout our stay.....

However whilst some areas could do with refurbishment the rooms are very well furnished, very clean, and very comfortable and contain everything you need. The downstairs bar serves superb food and a good choice of good quality ales. All the staff are superb, very friendly, very helpful and very professional. The location is very good, with the ferry terminal and bus stop just a short 5 minute walk away, and the views from the bar and front facing rooms are superb.I will definitely be staying here again.

We did enjoy our stay, the staff are fantastic and we were looked after very well. The food was amazing and the veggie options were extremely good. Our stay was only spoiled by the room, which although old had a really dirty stained chair in it, carpets in the bathroom which had a ton of dirt and pee stains and there was a lot of rot and black mould on the windows. This is not down to staff shortages but lack of maintenance. The Inn is extremely busy all the time and some of those profits could be used on refurbishment.Apart from that, (breathing in mould spores and the smell of pee) it was brilliant.

The room was OK.The bathroom carpet at the bath was damp and lifting off the floor.. the carpet around the toilet was frame I think it would be better replaced and the damp treated.. for £140 I was expecting the roo. To be of a higher standard.. I also had the impression the hotel are under staffed as when I arrived it was a brief wait here till the gent got my key and in the morning the lady was rushed off her feet and just took the key and walked off nit asking how my stay was.. unfortunately never had time for breakfast so unable to comment on the food..All the best Phil

My son, grandson and I liked the Ferry Boat Inn. We liked its small size and friendly atmosphere. No complaints, really, but here's a minor one. I was disappointed by my scrambled eggs and smoked salmon. The eggs were watery and could have done with more butter. Something I always hope for in hotels (and usually don't find) is a hook or two on the inside of the bathroom door. If memory serves me there wasn't one in my room (7).

Great Pub/Hotel/Restaurant which is in a superb position overlooking Loch Broom. The Restaurant menu has a wide selection of locally caught seafood. The meals we had were beautifully presented and delicious. Our bedroom was just as we remembered from our last visit, clean and fresh. All the staff were efficient and well trained whilst Nigel the boss has very droll sense of humour which went down well with our group. The only negative to our visit was the Lounge/Bar which we felt needed a bit of TLC but our overall comments can only be very positive.

A great location at a good price. Really impressed with the seafood menu. Stayed 4nts and tried something different on each. Would recommend this place for a meal even if you're not staying there. Comfortable room with a view over the loch. Couldn't fault it.

We chose to stay at the Ferry Boat having had a fantastic stay there 3 years ago. On arrival we were checked in by a young assistant who gave us no information at all about our stay and services available. When asked where the room was we were told "Oh, 2nd or 3rd floor not sure". There was no info on breakfast, wi-fi, meal arrangemetns etc. Additionally, although we had booked on line, she was confused as to what we had payed for so I had to confirm that with the email I had received. The room once located was nice and came with a bath which was most welcome. It was generally clean and tidy and well appointed. As a comment, there was a fair amount of mould around he bath tiles which could have been cleaned easily with a bit of bleach and this let it down. On the 2nd night there was temporarily no hot water which I overheard other guests commenting on but it did come back on later. The pub itself did great Real Ale and the food was nice (incl Breakfast) and offered at what we believe was a reasonable price. The Lady who took care of the Bar and the Breakfast was extremely friendly and made every effort offering great service. Additionally the hosts Nigel and Franner where also great and we enjoyed their Music night. Good fun. Finally, when we checked out we had to go throught the invoice again with our email as it had not been clearly marked out that we had paid in full as previously demonstrated. Overall we did enjoy the Ferry Boat but cant help feel some of the magic has gone. The initial reception and welcome was poor and needs sharpening and overall whilst everything was OK, somehow it was just that. It did what it said on the tin.

4 people were very pleased..2 of us had a bedroom with the best view but the bathroom was too minuscule ; it needs at least 2 hooks to hang towells

All lovely apart from ensuite which was small, but importantly shabby; toilet seT broken, toilet paper dispenser broken off and shower sops dish broken off. A little TLC would fix easily. Amazing view and good food.

The hotel is located in the heart of town with a view of the water. The food was typical Scotish fare but was good. A local establishment for sure.

The Ferry Boat Inn in Ullapool has a great location and is a very comfortable place to stay. After driving up the west coast and being pretty tired, we pulled in and parked right out front.Check-in was easy and we ate right in the pub; food and ales hit the spot and staff were engaging.Right on Loch Broom and walked to a couple other pubs. What's not to like?

Used the Ferryboat as a stopover to visit Highlands and coast. Took breakfast and evening meals at the hotel each day. As one can see from the exterior, it's a very old place and could do with some updating here and there. Overall very happy with the staff, hotel and food.

We have stayed many times, however this time we had the 'broom cupboard' for a room - Room 3? This would have been fine if it had been reflected in the price or had a few minor touches like a shelf in the bathroom, I couldn't put my contact lenses in, in the bathroom as no where to put them -was there a towel rail in the bathroom? My meat free was good - loved the selection of fruit and nuts. The meat breakfast my partner had was a over cooked. We had no milk to put in our coffee (we used the big cereal jug) and no coffee was run through when we arrived - so there was a back log of people wanting coffee. The staff were polite and trying hard, but who was there to check the setting up?Unfortunately I may look at other hotels/B&B's before our next visit to Ullapool, a lot of money for a very cramped room (my partner is 6ft 3in!) and a hit and miss breakfast.

Right on the side of the loch with magnificent views to wake up to every morning, very friendly service by obliging, enthusiastic staff and really wonderful breakfasts. All the meals we had at the Ferry Boat Inn were excellent, however sometimes in the evenings, the bar and dining room were so busy that the staff were clearly really stretched, though always good humoured. We'll be back!

We were very satisfied with our choice of the Ferryboat Inn at Ullapool. The staff was friendly and accommodating. The room was small but cosy and the beds were quite comfortable. The inn faces the loch so, you can have a view of the loch and the harbor.

Pricy for the size and condition of the room, probably as a consequence of the convenience of the location to the ferry. Nice little restarant attached.
